Giants | Reese expects Umenyiora to be with team in 2010
Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese expects DE Osi Umenyiora to be with the team in 2010. During an interview on Sirius NFL Radio, Reese said, “Well, you know, if you guys can remember, when I first got hired as GM, (former DE) Michael Strahan came in and said ‘You know what? I’m not playing.’ So I’ve been through that from the very beginning. I call it ‘offseason chatter.’ Almost every team there’s one or two players you hear some chatter in that respect. Osi and I had some good conversations. I expect Osi to be back and be a huge part of what we’re doing.”

Panthers undrafted rookie Neblett overcomes odds (AP)
There are so many reasons Andre Neblett shouldn't be on an NFL roster. Poor grades in high school left him lightly recruited. Struggling Temple took a chance, but the coaches switched him from linebacker to defensive tackle, a position he not only never played, but hated. While he eventually thrived there and helped turn around the Owls' moribund program, he went undrafted because of...

Sage Rosenfels and Darius Reynaud are doing a lot of cramming for their first game with the New York Giants. It's part of the job when you are traded to a new team a little more than a week before the season opener and you have to be ready. Rosenfels is the only other quarterback on the team and has to be prepared if something happens to Eli Manning.

Former receiver Plaxico Burress denied work release from prison (SportingNews.com)
Plaxico Burress will need to put his plans of a return to the NFL on hold. The former Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants wide receiver learned Tuesday that his request for work release from a New York prison had been denied. Burress, 33, is serving a two-year sentence after pleading guilty in 2009 to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. In November 2008, Burress accidentally shot himself in his right leg with his unlicensed .40-caliber handgun in a New York City nightclub.
